Art Studio I - Live Online Course
In Art Studio I students will study the Elements of Design begun in the Grammar years, or some other instructional context. As students enter the “dialectic stage” of their art education they will delve more deeply into understanding the Principles of Design, the “logic” of good art. Observational Drawing will be taught using Classical Methods such as Comparative Measuring. Students will be introduced to the tools and techniques used in Drawing, Pen and Ink, Charcoal, Pastels, and Painting (acrylic and watercolor). In addition to their projects, students will keep a sketchbook. Instruction will include observational drawing exercises, viewing great artwork from the past, step by step demonstrations, and personal critiques on their projects. This is a studio course and time will be provided in class for working on projects within a community of other artists. Homework will average 2-3 hours per week. View Art Studio I Syllabus
